Special stage 8 of the VW Rally in Port Elizabeth, through the Longmore Forest, has turned the event on its head. Hergen Fekken in the BP VW Polo who was challenging for the lead together with Johnny Gemmell, is out of the event with a broken wheel.

VW Rally Day 2: Fekken moves into 2nd overall on SS 6
BP VW Rallying's Hergen Fekke/Pierre Arries in a S2000 Polo Vivo, moved into 2nd overall at the start of proceeding on the VW Rally in Port Elizabeth this morning. Fekken won SS 6 and in the process overtook Johnny Gemme/Drew Sturrock in the Castrol Toyota Auris S2000 who were second overnight.

Cronje/Houghton lead VW Rally after day one
Port Elizabeth, Friday, July 15 - Mark Cronje and Robin Houghton, class S2000 Sasol Ford Fiesta, emerged the provisional winners of the first day of the Volkswagen Rally in the Eastern Cape today, finishing 18,4 second in front of the factory Castrol Toyota Auris of Johnny Gemmell and Drew Sturrock and 22,4 sec ahead of former champions Hergen Fekken and Pierre Arries in a factory BP Volkswagen Polo.
