In the past few weeks Mr Richie Rich Ecclestone has been telling the British government to get involved in the Silverstone upgrade to raise the standards of the track for the coming GP.
He warned them that Silverstone could lose their event!
The over the past few days he also threatened to take the GP away from Australia due to “your guy’s (premier Mr John Brumby) lack of interest in his over priced glorified circus.
He also ruled out any chance of the Gold coast taking the high profile event from Melbourne saying, “our costs are very high in Australia and we get a lot less money. It's bloody bad for us. We've got quite a few places on the list which would like to have Formula One and as it seems your guy (John Brumby) down there doesn't want Formula One, we can make him happy and make the other people happy" and he added that he wanted to pursue better money, sponsorship and television audiences in other parts of the world.
The grand prix is expected to move to either India, Russia or Korea should a deal with Melbourne not be renewed.
This makes me think so much of that Mercedes salesman many years ago when I did a survey for BMW. I walked onto the showroom floor and asked if I could look at the 280E Mercedes and go for a test drive.
He did not event bother to get up form behind his desk and said they had a waiting list for the cars and if I wanted to test drive one, I should buy it and drive as much as I wanted.
Needless to say, a few months later, when the motor trade turned its arse on him, he phone at least three times asking if he could bring a car to my office to demonstrate it. True to form I told him what he could do with his car with the waiting list!
If Ecclestone thinks that he now suddenly controls the world, he may have a second think coming his way sooner than he would like.

I must add however that I don’t think he will miss a few dollars along the way – but then also his one tracked life must have been a rather silly little affair as no amount of money could do anything for him.
A ugly short little bundle of money motivated arrogance – all dressed up and no where to go.
Makes you think about some other examples running around, and worse of all is that some of them does not even have money!
We need venues, we need people to support us – not the other way around dear old Bernie! Many people stopped watching you monotonous little circus long time ago and sadly the day will come when your successor may have to drive to the customer to demonstrate the sport.
You are running (and how) the present pinacle and although you have not been voted King you may be seen by some to represent motorsport!
So take care and remember its no ones fault that you lack lenght and looks.
