The sun has set over Dakar
|
When you don’t read the article I have written this morning since 4h00, it is simply because the electricity supply went down as usual in Waterkloof due to the shittiest but most expensive service in the country. Two drops of rain fell, so the transformer that is apparently not rain-, water- or new South Africa resistant, kicked out and there it was – gone with the wind – two hours of solid work, not saved, not retrievable.
I went back to bed and read the latest Glen Meade book, using the torch they sold to me as the type the USA Marines use in combat. Just as I was settling in to read the part where the Yanks try and solve a problem bigger that September 11 placed in front of them by Al Queda, my wife unfortunately woke up and as the torch light was shining into my face, she got such a fright and screamed so hard that we both are currently under sedation. The salesperson at the hardware did not bullshit me when he said the torch was something else, as it went right through the 2m glass pane of the window, landed in the Koi-fish pond, and when I got there about an hour later it was still lighting up the pond to the delight of the Koi that was not killed on impact.
So, while you read the results of the rally and a snippet here and there, I am frantically busy to try and think back about what I said.
So….if you don’t mind to read all about the Dakar and our summary later, return in about an hour. If you still don’t find anything worthwhile on the site, you must know that I called it a day and went fishing in the rain.
