Giniel and Francois on their way to another win
|
I know that Giniel and Francois won the event in the Nissan Hardbody, and also that Neil Woolridge and Skjolthammer finished in second place. Hannes Grobler and Richard Leeke finished in 3rd position and the rest we will know shortly.
So stop sending me "wats nies" sms, telex, fax, cell phone voice mail, telegrams, s.o.s. and other messages.
How did you hate the undeserved hiding the Bokke got yesterday?
I should have known that it was not my day and if it is not my day, then apparently most people do suffer according to the family.
First the Boerboel bites the Sausage dog because the latter grinned at it.
I ran out to kick her arse, and because I believe in objectivity I had the cell phone I wanted to hand her after the kick to phone the SPCA with in my hand. My approach must have been slightly like that of Johnny Wilkinson – a bit skew. I saw a nice opening to nail her with the flat side of my foot, right on the muscle of her right tight and because she is quite fast for a bloody 90kg dog, I did not hesitate and let fly.

Neil Woolridge and Kenny Skjoldhammer in the Ford Ranger

It does not happen too many times, but you must have seen on a rugby field when a guy kicks and his feet slip from under him at the same time. That is where the popular Afrikaans saying “Hy’t geval dat sy gat klap” originated – well either there or when the first brave men started experimenting with wings.
As my right foot was on its way to her bum – my left foot was on its way to Jupiter and my 104kg arse on its way to mother earth.
Willie du Plessis says he does not always have time to read my stories – so for his sake – “The big dog bit the small dog and I fell when I wanted to level the playing fields” - jees what an interesting and exciting life he must lead?
Anyway – next moment in a replay of the Hiroshima incident in the 40’s I hit the ground. The next moment the Boerboel was onto me, enjoying this new game where at least we were on the same level. She licked me right through my open mouth while I was saying the natural four letter word Mario Lanza style. No – Mario Lanza was not Andretti’s cousin and he did not drive a Maseratti. He was the guy who drank and sang the Student song – “Drink, drink, drink till you die” or something like that and that Gaudiamus igitur, nog ‘n dag is in sy moer!… song we used to sing in the army.
My very juppy cell phone was launched through the air and the fox terrier I bought, and the mongrel that my wife picked up while she was hitching a ride, were running around fighting for possession of the bloody thing.
The sausage dog was now grinning at the big black dog – a cross between a Dutch shepperd dog and a Weimaraner that thinks he is in the jungle and has to chase everything that moves.
Then the Bokke runs onto the field – I spilled my hot coffee all over me when they scored their first try in the first 30 seconds of the game – and when they broke through the defence of the “mighty” (mighty se gat) All Black team – I knew my money was save. I knew our guys would really be fit now that Strauelli was concentrating hopefully on racing pigeons, and not looking at kaalgat guys running up and down his driveway – or wherever he held the Staaldraadtrek Camp.
Then for Willie’s sake in short – that short line out right at the end.
We had to keep them busy for 2 more minutes. All we needed to do was win the ball on our throw in, get it to any one of three excellent kickers in the backline – let him kick it out. Then we waste a minute getting to the line out, let them throw in and defend away from our goal line.
That ball going through the air into no mans land – while the back-line did not seem to expect it – and we losing possession – well the rest is history. Great come back though? Proud to be a South African again for a change.
Then we decided to go to a Casino – and the rest is history.
Then back penniless to watch the Bulls wipe out the Lions – now that is really history. I wonder if the Lions knew what to do last night?
