Due to some extraordinary ridiculous and Murphy's Law circumstances - I am still in Cape Town, while my e-mail address in Pretoria is open, sucking in every piece of mail I receive - which of course means that I do not have a clue what really happened in the Cape - while I were present while everything happened!
Enzo Kuun did one of the silliest things in his career and jumped the start of a stage on Saturday - and for the one, two, three or as one story has it, four seconds he gained he got himself a one minute or light year penalty!
...and Class A6 went to Schalk Burger and Wimpie van Greunen
A 23 second win turned into a 37 second nightmare for this highly talented but sometimes silly driver! Lets assume his foot slipped from the clutch, or his hand slipped on the clutch, or Guy dropped a cigarette bud between his legs and screamed so hard that Enzo got a fright and pulled away.
The stage has been set for a battle in and out of cars, nothing that smells like a technical, deliberate or intended accidental whatever - is going to go by unnoticed.
Serge makes a mistake - Volkswagen will be on his case, any Volkswagen pretends to make a mistake, or blink and eye and Toyota will be on their case.

Serge Damseaux and Robert Paisley - Castrol Toyota S2000

Nothing asked nothing offered! End of story and mark my words, it is going to get unpleasant...
I have a funny feeling that screwing with the specific number which I fear to write, talk or sing about has also had an effect on the massive Total Team that is supposed to win every possible, except maybe the top class on the rally. I mean if you have big enough kajones to sponsor a 13 car team, then you must be willing to stand for everything that number throws at you. Not superstitious? Good for you, I am!

Charl Wilken - Castrol Toyota winner class A7
Who won S2000 Serge Damseaux Castrol
Who won A7 Charl Wilken Castrol
Who won N4 Paul Pfeiffer White car waiting for sponsorship colours!
Who won N3 Piazza-Musso Sasol
Who won N2 no finisher
Who won A6 Schalk Burger privateer
Who won A5 Ettienne Malherbe privateer (too old)
Ever heard of strength lies in quality and not always in numbers? Thought so!

Etienne Malherbe & Hennie Botes - a great A5 win
The Cape of Storms really lived up to its name and the drama began in all earnest very early on in the event!
The first stage remember the one I said before the event, and after the 2004 event should never have happened anyway took its toll and then to crown it all the Hellshoogte bushes also caught fire. Poor Lola and Megan got the initial blame, while they danced circles around their steer-less Total Subaru swearing at anyone who had anything to do with tightening the steering rack nuts, bolts, pop rivets or tie straps!
Paul Pfeiffer and Duncan English - Mitsubishi N4 winners
Jan Habig came out of that stage sweating like a pig, as both clutch and power steering of the multi plenty Rand car gave up the ghost in this hair-raising shit hole up and down the mountain called Idas Valley, a.k.a Hellshoogte.
Claudio Piazza-Musso and Greg Gericke - N3 winners
Enzo came through with a clean car, looking hot but still relaxed and the writing was on the wall he was planning to carry on let off in Natal winning every possible stage of the event.
..but you will have to wait for the whole story until I get back to Pretoria
