SO, YOU HAVE A BIKE??
author:
On 18th and 19th August 2006 you will get to opportunity to show what you and your bike can do to take the smile off the faces of some of the oil sheiks up North.
The PMC MOTORCYCLE ECONOMY RUN 2006 that is designed to demonstrate the fuel economy capabilities of well-maintained and skilfully driven modern motorcycles under varying conditions will then take place over a representative selection of South African major tar roads.
Basically the event runs from filling station to filling station, with a break of some 30 minutes at each refuelling point. Each section should be completed within a given time and at a given average speed. Should a competitor arrive early at the end of a section, he may simply switch off the engine and wait until the correct time of arrival (ETA) comes up before clocking in. However, should a competitor arrive late he will be penalised half a litre of fuel for each minute he is late.
A route schedule indicating the prescribed route is provided to each competitor. Times are shown at each point on the route schedule to help competitors gauge their progress along the route. It is suggested that you travel close to the speed limit for the particular section of road. Most competitors prefer to have one to two minutes in hand for unforeseen situations.
Don't miss this great event.
