Living up to it's reputation the Cape of Storms have literally turned the Swartland into a Marshland and the Cape Peninsula Motorcycle and Car Club had little choice but to postpone the running of the Wingfield Motors Rally to 25 July 2009.
Not even the best pace notes available can assist you when the roads are submerged and engines have this uncomfortable habid to self destruct when filled with water.
Given the fact that the Western Cape desperately need numbers on each event, losing entries because the competitors had to risk crossing drifts that have become 200m wide simply does not merit the risk.
Never a popular decision as everyone had already committed for the event, it IS the correct decision taken in the interest of all concerned.
The event will retain it's current format and hopefully the worst weather would have passed through come 25 July 2009.
