Alonso set the fastest time in the second practice session that was run in dry conditions compared to the first session that was wet and created problems for some of the drivers.

The Ferrari driver edged out the Red Bull Renault driver and current darling of the German fans, Sebastian Vettel in the second period. Third today was Felipe Massa in the second Ferrari, followed by Mark Webber in the Red Bull Racing Renault.

The two GP Mercedes drivers, Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher were 5th and 6th respectively.
