LOEB LOOKING FOR 8TH SUCCESSIVE VICTORY
author: Andries vd Walt
Six times world rally champion, Sebastien Loeb co-driver Daniel Elena, will be hoping to secure their 8th consecutive victory on the Adac Rally of Germany that started in Thrier today. Loeb, however, can expect strong competition for the other Citroën drivers, Sebastien Ogier, Dani Sordo and Petter Solberg, all in the C4WRC cars. “That means that I’m going to have to pull out all the stops to stay in front of them,” said Loeb.

The rally has attracted 80 entries and the stages will cover a distance of 400km, making the longest round of the current WRC events. It is also the oldest. And for Loeb, who is leading the current championship standings and looking for his 7th title, the Rally Germany is an asphalt rally and Loeb is the undoubted maestro on this kind of surface.

For Loeb and co-driver Daniel Elena, Germany is an exceptional event. The Franco-Monegasque pair won the inaugural WRC event there in 2002. Six more Rally Deutschland successes have followed, and together they hold the record for the number of consecutive wins in the same event.

After competing in Rally Finland in the Citroen Junior Team, Dani Sordo is back in the cockpit of the no. 2 C4 WRC. The Spaniard was second in this event in 2006 and 2008 and hopes to do at least as well this year - even after a major change inside the car. This week the Spaniard will be co-driven by Diego Vallejo, who has replaced his long term partner Marc Marti.
