OSRAM RALLY STARTS IN BARKLEY EAST
author: Andries van der Walt
Altogether 30 cars came under starter’s orders in Barkley East this morning where the Osram Rally, round six of the Sasol SA National Rally Championship will be held today. The event is the rally on the national calendar that starts and finishes the same day. It will consist of eight challenging and demanding mountain stages of about 175 stage kilometers.
It is expected to once again be a closely contested affair given the fact that the result of this event could have a great influence on the outcome of the championship. Since the stages are all run on mountain roads the competitors will have to ensure that they do not make any mistake. The pace is fast, but the margin for error very small.
The Osram Rally is one of the most popular rallies for some competitors, while others are not as keen to compete on the event.
It is being organised by the Sports Car Club (Bloemfontein Branch) and the Clekrk of the Course is Fred Vroomen.
