RALLYSTAR RALLY SELF-DRIVE EXPERIENCE

Starts of with an introduction session lasting about 25 minutes. We tell you all about the rules, a bit about drive-lines, rally car behaviour and then the most interesting - how to use the Route Notes for when you will tackle your first Special Stage just like a seasoned rally driver!
After this one of our specialist drivers will take you around the track to show you something about “racing lines” and point out the dangers while you try and memorize the lot!
Then you get your turn to get behind the steering wheel of a rally car. This is your chance to do four orientation laps over the route you will be doing to get the 'feeling' of the car, its power and behaviour on gravel.
Then follows what you have been waiting for - the chance to open up the Subaru Turbo-power under the bonnet and get the sensation of a real adrenaline rush during the amazing performance of a rally car driven in anger!
Then comes your big test - you will have to drive through a Rally Special Stage!
This is when you will experience what it is like in a rally car when the team competes under pressure!
Your professional navigator will call the instructions at machine gun speed and you will have to interpret them as your drive through a special stage you have never seen before! This is where you need to keep your cool!
Instructions come flying, you will have to listen to one call, interpreted and apply it, while you have to listen to the next one, remember the previous one.....take in another…..awesome!
This is real fun, but afterwards you will have new respect for the ability of rally drivers to do all these things at high speed!
Then, just to make sure that we managed to release all the adrenaline possible in you, one of our master drivers will take you for a special bonus hot lap over the specialist rally track to cool you down!

RALLYSTAR RALLY HOTSEAT EXPERIENCE

The “Hotseat” experience consist of a reconnaissance lap driven at medium speed to show you the route you are going to be taken and prepare you somewhat for the experience.
Then, just as you think it can not be so bad, all hell breaks loose when the professional driver opens up the powerful Subaru to take you around our specialist rally track at rally speed.
You may be lucky enough to experience the well-known car control skills of ex-South African multi Rally champion Leon Botha or the sideways skills of Jacques Botha and company will ensure that you bring all your friends for more! (note that drivers are rotated)

RALLYSTAR SUPER SPECIAL SPIN EXPERIENCE

This is a double whammy – where we add some excitement not many people will ever experience. We take your group around our Super Special stage in two competing rally cars at the same time!
You experience what happens on a WRC event during a Super Special Stage!
The two cars start next to each other and you will experience that magic Subaru pull away while the drivers vie for position.
After the first huge jump the cars split away from each other - that one doing the short - and the other continuing on the "long" circuit. Then comes the nerve wrecking switch over of lanes and the drivers change track! All this while you patch up your ability to pray while you still enjoy what must be one of the greatest sensations you will ever enjoy!
If all goes well, the two cars should cross the finish line together!
Have you got the nerve?

RALLYSTAR RALLY DRIVER TRAINING
We offer several rally driving packages ranging from ‘fun’ adrenaline packed rally experiences to in-depth training for prospective rally drivers and navigators.
If you are interested in the training side of what we offer – I can give you the following information:
Rally driving is an expensive sport, sponsors are hard to find and sponsor commitment of more than a year is a rarity. That said, there are ways to develop your ability and standing in the post without going bankrupt!
Before you make the decision to invest in a car, service crew and the like we would suggest you do a driver assessment. The course is offered by Leon Botha – ex-multi rally champion with more than 4 decades experience in the sport. This assessment offers you a frank and realistic appraisal of you abilities and allows you to set up the correct training regime and purchase the correct car to suite your driving style.
If, after the assessment, Leon feels that you do not have the potential to be a rally driver we will either refund 50% of the fee or offer you an advanced driver training session to complete the day. If however he feels you do have the potential we will work closely with you to set up a training program to suite your budget and schedule.
The course costs R 1 500 and is held over half a day at our track on the R51 in between Bapsfontein and Benoni. I would like to point out that we are currently the only rally academy of its kind in South Africa and spaces for driver assessments are highly sought after. Bookings for sessions can be made directly through me.
Cost of course? Driver assessment – R 1 500 per person. Driver training standard rate per day – R 2 500 per person (this is a standard rate for one days training, but discounts are offered and will be calculated when a training schedule is set up). Navigation training –
R 1 500 for driver and navigator. R 1 000 for navigator alone.
Length of course? The driver assessment lasts for half a day. The training can last from one day to several months. Navigation training basic session can last for one day to a week or so.
Days the course is held on? As said before, spots for assessment and training are highly sought after. New dates can be acquired at request.
Where are you based? Is the training held where? Our track is on the R51 in between Bapsfontein and Benoni, map attached. Training will take place at the RallyStar Track.
Cars – do you have to have your own? We own modified Subaru STi’s and Legacy’s that we use for driver assessments. When driver training starts however, it is advised to do training in your own vehicle. But training can be provided in the academy’s vehicles.
