MSA MEDICAL INSURANCE NOW COMPULSARY
author: Leon Botha
DISCOVERY HEALTH MEDICAL AID
In the latest Discovery Health Magazine – Summer 2002, it was noted on page 60 that in 2003 Discovery Health would no longer cover any speed events, speed trials or extreme activities.
This of course has a great impact for the competitors who rely on their Discovery membership to cover them in the event of an accident and who, because of this, don’t budget for MSA Insurance when renewing their licences.
Please would you notify your competitors that due to this ruling, it will now become compulsory for every competitor to take out MSA insurance except in the case of the defence force. However proof of memberships to the defence force medical scheme is required.
COPY OF I.D.
Please note that it has become necessary to request a copy of all competitors I.D. when renewing their licence (including every one event licence obtained). Unfortunately, there are a few competitors who choose to use their I.D to obtain the initial 3 one event licences and then either change their surname to another family member name or switch the last few digits of their I.D. in order for them to obtain a further 3 or more one event licences.
As we intend to start issuing licences for 2003 at the beginning of December, I would appreciate you notifying your members as a matter of urgency.
Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact the Sport Co-Ordinator who deals with your region..
Kind Regards
