There are many stories about the 13th and worse, Friday the 13th but it seems that my luck will just not hold on these days, and I mean Monday to Sunday – the 13th will be the 13th.
It is common knowledge that my navigators are not allowed to use that word in the car, but even when they do not, and they try to hide the number form me, things still seem to go wrong.
A number of years ago, while Francois Jordaan still navigated for me we got through Special Stage 13 intact and he was quite impressed when we went through the flying finish. He could not wait to tell me “you see, I did not tell you but we have gone completed Stage 13 and nothing happened.”
In the next stage, we arrived at a very sharp corner with mud disguised and well hidden by shadows. Without missing a beat, we went straight off and into a tree. Luckily, we could carry on, but as I reversed, Francois looked at me and said: “You wont believe this, but look at the odo” – the reading was 13.00kms
I therefore apologise to all of you, that everything went wrong on RallyStar® at around 00h00 on Friday the 13th. The site simply bombed out and I am writing this notice while I am not sure when it will get back on line!
When you see this - it will be back on line. Sounds like the statement "When it rains it is wet"?
Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience, but we honestly still have no idea what happened and why it did!
It is said ... If 13 people sit down to dinner together, all will die within the year. The Turks so disliked the number 13 that it was practically expunged from their vocabulary (Brewer, 1894). Many cities do not have a 13th Street or a 13th Avenue. Many buildings don't have a 13th floor. If you have 13 letters in your name, you will have the devil's luck (Jack the Ripper, Charles Manson, Jeffrey Dahmer, Theodore Bundy and Albert De Salvo all have 13 letters in their names).
A study published in the British Medical Journal in 1993, entitled "Is Friday the 13th Bad for Your Health?" With the aim of examining "the relation between health, behaviour, and superstition surrounding Friday 13th in the United Kingdom," its authors compared the ratios of traffic volume to vehicular accidents on two different days, Friday the 6th and Friday the 13th, over a period of years.

Surprisingly, they found that in the region sampled, while consistently fewer people chose to drive on Friday the 13th, the number of hospital admissions due to accidents was significantly higher than on normal Fridays.
Their conclusion:
Friday 13th is unlucky for some. The risk of hospital admission as a result of a transport accident may be increased by as much as 52 percent. Staying at home is recommended.
