maria du plessis : TV Coverage
  • Dear Leon,

The second you approach a potential sponsor, your first words are "tv coverage". Then you take your sponsors money, and after eating "pap & water" for a few weeks you finally have enough to travel to some far off destination to compete in a rally event. Then when you watch the much anticipated tv coverage, you find that rally is all about Toyota & Volkswagen and that the only sponsors that really get exposure, is BP. If that isn't bad enough, while you are watching the programme you realise that their facts are all wrong. The reason Pfeiffer and Harding were disqualified was not due to their shocks, even though a complaint regarding the shocks was made. Lategaan's Golf is not Homologated, so their results did not count. With them out of the results, who came third in the N4 category? I don't know, do you,and does Hannes? I would like to propose, that say for example there is 50 entries, they don't even have to spend half a minute on each entry, then EVERYONE can get an equal amount of tv time, the competitors are happy and the sponsors are happy.

  • Hello Leon,

In the article about Gugu Zulu (http://www.rallystar.co.za/article/articleview/2311/1/1), there is a pic of Gugu's Golf upside down.

That pic is a screenshot, taken from the video footage I took of the event. I posted the original screenshot at the following link: http://www.cartoday.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=021308#000000

For whatever reason, I see the caption below the pic: "Pic by Thorsten Pey".

    Can this be ammended?

    Best regards
    John Odendaal

  • Leon

Thanks for a good preview of the event - I'm sure it has contributed to the entries and spectators will be encouraged to come and look.

    Regards
    Kevin
  • Editor Rallystar: My pleasure Kevin - sorry I did not look at this section of the site sooner, to respond. Shows you I don't even know my own site properly! The Bathroom Bizarre rally was great according to all reports and I must admit the best publicised of all the regional rallies.

    Regards
    Leon
Mark Palmer : Well Done Leon
  • Hi Leon

It was great to meet you this weekend, and to help out with your superb event. I really enjoyed being part of the scene again, and being part of your team, and it was really exciting watching you do so well.

Next time you are in the Cape, look me up, and it would be great to get together again!!

Congrats on your performance, once again!!

    Regards

    Mark
  • Editor Rallystar: Hi Mark - sorry I did not respond sooner - meanwhile the friendship has prospered and I am the one to thank you, Thorsten and all the lovely people surrounding you for all the help and friendship through 2003. Hopefully 2004 will be better when the Scooby has been properly prepared and brough a bit closer to the multi million Rand competition.

    Regards
    Leon
